Faithful Nest

Living faithful in a faithless world

Challenge accepted

It started the usual way…

A friend tossed out a challenge to be productive 30 days in a row. Create, make, write, perform, do whatever you want to work with or on. Not to give any hints, but she’s working on her creative schedule. 30 days of creating before a certain time.

A challenge! Never one to let an opportunity become a regret, I jumped in with both hands. 30 days of creating poems. How hard can it be? (You know that is a tease, right?)

I’ve made it through 8 days now. I started with a Welsh form that nearly ended my creative streak before the ink on page one dried. Cyrch A Chwta, I believe is pronounced “keerch a chewta”. An octave (8 line) piece where the first six and line 8 end with the same rhyme. Line 7 introduces a new rhyme mated in the middle of line 8. Yes, line 8 has two rhyming members.

Having survived that, I moved to haiku as a sort of recovery day for day 2.

The interesting part is that I am focusing on production and not polish. Yet.

Maybe that’ll be the next 30 day challenge.
