Faithful Nest

Living faithful in a faithless world

Winter movements

Birds flock to my feeder today, in the minor warming. Temperatures here in Wisconsin are more down than up, triggering all sorts of weather warnings. The chickadees and house finches do not seem to heed them.

Yesterday I joined a flock of fellow writers online. Thanks to the Poetry Foundation and Maggie Queeney for a thought provoking workshop. Consuming seeds of thoughts tossed out by previous poets, our group sought stimulation and nutrition. Warming our creative selves with like minded birds of a feather.

On the heals of a great session, another was canceled. The fragile state of some of my in-person group informed their decisions to stay home in the warmth of their homes. Thankful for the earlier workshop and yet, an emptiness. What birds are abandoned in this weather advisory? Who missed out on a flocking together?

Keep in mind your flock and make contact with them. Even if it is only to sing a few notes of like minded song. Keep your creative seed gathering, summer is coming.
