Faithful Nest

Living faithful in a faithless world

100 days

I’m sorry, but it’s not THAT 100 days. We aren’t close and I’m breathing slowly and deeply to get through every one till we get there.

My friend posted a creative challenge last year for 30 days. Taking that on, I learned about myself, my creative focus, and how to generate more. That’s as much as I can consolidate the lessons. The final day capped off 30 consecutive creative efforts.

After all the election hullabaloo and holiday happenings, January left me in the usual funk. Grabbing a kit that I had received as a present some time ago, I built a puzzle clock. That sounds much more grand than it was. Laser cut formica that one punches out and assembles according to the instructions. It was a really satisfying way to start 2025.

That puzzle clock led to a bit of an epiphany. Keeping creatively busy stokes the creative fires. When assembling pieces, my inner poet broke loose. When writing poetry, images popped into my mind for the next project. The two made great playmates!

I’m only on Day 2 of the creative challenge. We are free to set our own goals. Mine is 30 minutes of creating every day. Perhaps I can keep those projects rolling. The inner critic seems confused by the act of switching back and forth.

Let’s hope we can keep that critic confused for 98 more days. Feel free to join me!
